Kobe Bryant - In Memoriam

The world has lost a great man today.

This isn’t about his prowess on the basketball court. This isn’t about the countless stories of an inhuman work ethic. This isn’t about what he did for basketball. This is about what Kobe Bryant did for the world as a whole.

Not since the deaths of Jose Fernandez and Roy Halladay has the world of sports experienced such a loss. Even then, nobody has had an impact quite like the Black Mamba. Kobe truly inspired hundreds of millions of people across the globe. His greatness as both a player and a person helped ignite a passion for life in an entire generation.

There’s no need to mention all he’s done consciously, like all the charities to which he’s contributed. What he has done just by demonstrating his unrelenting drive for success and joy for life itself is unquantifiable.

There are not enough words in any language to express the greatness of his life nor the tragedy of his death.

There will never be another Kobe Bryant, no matter how many people adopt the nickname that he made so iconic.

As Babe Ruth once said, “Heroes get Remembered, but Legends Never Die.”

Rest in peace Mamba, the world will never be the same without you.
